学生参议院 is recognized as the official organization representing the ideas, 需要, and interests of the student body at 圣保罗书院. Being involved is an excellent leadership opportunity that allows you to engage in a democratic form of student governance, led by a student elected Executive Board. Senate members serve on college committees, help organize and support student organizations, support programming and campus initiatives, and contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.

大会 is the monthly meeting for 学生参议院. The 大会 exists to provide representation for students on campus and create avenues for open dialogue between students, 参议院执行委员会, 与校园领导.  Registered student organizations receiving funding are required to send at least 1 representative each month.

  • Serve as chair person for all 学生参议院 大会 and Executive Board meetings.
  • Prepare agendas and chair all 大会 and Executive Board meetings.
  • Represent 圣保罗书院 at all MSCSA Conferences during an academic year.
  • Vote in 大会 only in the event of a tie.
  • Coordinate meetings with the 圣保罗书院 President.
  • Coordinate 学费 and Fee consultations with the Vice President of Finance & 操作.
  • Coordinate Trainings for Senate Executive board in collaboration with Advisors.
  • Schedule promotional initiatives with Student 参议院执行委员会.
  • Attend all Minnesota State College Student Association (MSCSA) meetings as a representative of the 学生参议院 from 圣保罗书院.
  • Track MSCSA campus STAR status.

资格

  • Must be enrolled in 6 credits for Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative & 学期GPA 3.0 on 4.0规模.
  • Ability to fulfill the requirements set forth in the 学生参议院 Constitution and Bylaws.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Must have strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook (including 日历 and Contact features), Microsoft Powerpoint and Microsoft Excel.
  • Cannot serve as an officer on any other student association, including the 学生生活 Committee, due to conflict of interest policies.
  • This position may work up to 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • Assume the duties of the President in their absence or at the request of the President.
  • Maintain a list of campus committees and their membership, meeting dates and locations.
  • Assist the President with duties and responsibilities.
  • Communicate with Student Organization Senators of their status with 学生参议院. This includes overseeing the new and annual club/organization registration process, student organization training, enforcement of club/organization policy and procedure (fundraising, community service) and keeping records up to date.
  • Maintain weekly contact with student organization advisors with events, opportunities for involvement, 会议提醒, 等. report any pertinent information to the Executive Board.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate 学生参议院, Club and Organization budget accounts.
  • Provide regular financial reports at 大会 meetings or as requested by the student body.
  • Submit a year end budget report detailing present fiscal year activities to 大会 and 学生参议院 Advisor.
  • Submit a yearly 学生参议院 Budget to be approved by the 大会 and College President no later than May for the next fiscal year.
  • Maintain records of all requests for funds, reimbursements, requisitions and purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with fundraising and service requirements for all student associations and communicate information to President of 学生参议院 and Senate Advisors.

资格

  • Must be enrolled in 6 credits for Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative & 学期GPA 2.5 on 4.0规模.
  • The Treasurer position requires basic accounting skills and ability to manage multiple budgets. A working knowledge of Excel is required.
  • Ability to fulfill the requirements set forth in the 学生参议院 Constitution and Bylaws.

  • Coordinate student involvement fair at the beginning of each semester.
  • Coordinate a Volunteer/Civic Engagement event each semester.
  • Coordinate all 学生参议院 sponsored events and activities. This includes logistics such as publicity, set up, staffing and volunteer coordination. Delegate responsibilities to others as needed.
  • Work with Director of 学生生活 and campus officials to update and maintain 学生参议院 website content.
  • Serve as Senate photographer/ social media coordinator and obtain necessary releases at applicable events.

  • Reach out to other MinnState 学生参议院s regarding best practices, ideas and resources for diversity efforts.
  • Work with student organizations to ensure their events are accessible to all students.
  • Annual review/assessment of campus ARTI plan through a student lens to aid in establishing annual project goals
  • Utilize student perspective to advocate for and address systemic barriers for student success and belonging on campus
